The ladder
One market, one vertical price scale. Where the clicks go, and what each one sends.
The idea
A ladder is a column of prices. Each row is one tick. Next to each row sit the resting orders at that price, on both sides — BUY (taking the outcome) on one side, SELL (closing or shorting it) on the other. Everything moves in place as the book changes, so you are always clicking at a price rather than typing one.
You open a ladder from the tree on the left, or by searching in the top bar.

Placing an order
Left-click on the BUY or SELL column, on the row for the price you want. That places an order at that tick, for the size currently selected. There is no confirmation dialog — that is the point of a ladder, and it is also the thing to be careful about while you are learning. Practise in read-only mode, or with a size small enough that a misclick does not matter.
Cancelling
- Right-click on a BUY or SELL cell — cancels everything you have working at that price.
- Press
x— cancels every working order. - Press
b— cancels your BUY orders only. - Press
l— cancels your SELL orders only.
Cancelling asks the venue to pull the order. An order that has already been matched cannot be cancelled; you will see the fill instead.
Moving an order
Drag a working order to a different tick. That cancels it and replaces it at the new price in one motion. The size does not change.
Single-click move, when it is switched on, does the same thing without the drag: a single click on an empty cell moves your most recent working order on that side to the clicked price instead of placing a new one. It is off by default. Turn it on only once the difference between "click places" and "click moves" is second nature — that is precisely the setting that surprises people.
Hedging
Press h to hedge the selected outcome: an order sized to level out the position you already hold. Look at the figure it shows you before you accept it.
Keeping the price in view
Press c to recentre the ladder on the current price. Markets drift out of view; this is the fastest way back.
The ladder menu
Right-click on a neutral cell — one that is neither BUY nor SELL — to open the ladder menu. Columns, odds display, theme, size settings and the rest live there.
Odds display changes the numbers, not the market: decimal, US, fractional, or the native probability Polymarket itself quotes. Pick the one you think in.
